Who are you?
My name is Aneesh and I live in Bangalore, India.
What is The Simple Piano?
The Simple Piano is meant to be a weekly journal on my piano learning progress. Currently, I am planning to maintain this blog strictly on an experimental basis. It has been a long time wish to learn playing piano. But, as a person who does not generally stick with a program for long, I thought a blog with a weekly post will help me to stick with the plan of learning to play this instrument.
What is key focus?
The key focus is to play the songs I love to play on piano, such that they sound good. Over a period of time, I would like to achieve:
- Play melody with right hand & chords with left hand using fake books/lead sheets.
- Make the above step more sophisticated using different right and left hand techniques and patterns.
- Learn different genres of Piano playing like Jazz, Blues, Stride, Ragtime etc.
- Eventually to learn to play by ear.
Do you own a piano?
No, I don't. As of now, I owns a 66 keys Yamaha keyboard but am sure one day I will own a digital piano.
Do you have a teacher?
No, I don't. I tried that approach for some time, but it did not work for me. Having regular tuition with teacher was both expensive and also was taking a lot of commute time. Also, I did not become a big fan of the method.
So, what is your learning resources?
Books primarily. I also look for online resources and YouTube video tutorials occassionally.
What is this blog not about?
This blog is definitely not about classical pieces and symphonies.
